Q: Why did you select Coursebase from the numerous LMS solutions?

Case InterviewMr. Nagano:
We had experience handling LMS for medical device manufacturers, and we felt Coursebase excelled in supporting physicians and in information security. Additionally, the pricing structure, which was an initial lump-sum fee rather than per ID, was a factor. Furthermore, its superior customization and content usability compared to other companies, as well as the comprehensive support provided for LMS creation, were also key reasons.

Ms. Mochizuki:
It was essential for our company to prepare a pre-use training environment for specialists who would actually use the medical device product for which we obtained regulatory approval for expanded indications. Therefore, we considered over 10 LMS providers, including Coursebase, to fulfill the necessary functions. Coursebase was the only company that responded "Yes" to almost all of the seven essential LMS requirements we had set.

The decisive factors for our adoption were Coursebase's ability to not only meet our essential functional requirements but also to fulfill our customization needs with additional value. Furthermore, the expectation that we could build the future of this project together with Coursebase, as they were truly receptive to our requests, was the ultimate reason for our decision.

Q: What was your first impression of Coursebase LMS?

Mr. Nagano:
My first impression was that the interface was refreshingly simple. Additionally, we felt confident in proceeding with content creation because Coursebase's representative promptly made as many revisions as possible to our initial requests for the LMS site, progressing quickly with its development.

Ms. Mochizuki:
Compared to other LMS, Coursebase received high marks for its excellent usability for both users and administrators. We were also confident that the streamlined interface design would allow users to concentrate on their studies.

This time, as the implementer, I had to make the selection. While ease of use for learners was certainly important, I especially focused on whether I, as an administrator, could perform operations such as course creation and learner management myself. Coursebase offered a simple operational feel, so from the moment we saw the demo, I felt reassured that once we had the content ready, we could start creating courses immediately without having to pore over a manual. Furthermore, I am pleased that Coursebase offers extensive customization flexibility, allowing us to provide a system that not only enhances operational efficiency but can also adapt to various future needs.

Q: What challenges did you face before adopting Coursebase LMS?

Case InterviewMr. Nagano:
Our company needed to build an LMS for thousands of external users (physicians). As we did not possess their registration data, we required a system where participants could complete everything within the LMS, from new registration to training completion and certificate issuance, and for us to easily verify the list of completed users. Additionally, since the training would be short-term, we were also concerned about the long-term burden of ID management (monthly fees per ID) when selecting an LMS provider.

Ms. Mochizuki:
Initially, there was a proposal to utilize systems already in use within our company. However, this approach risked an inability to centralize all LMS-related data and a reliance on manual intervention for participant management, potentially leading to operations and management dependent on email and Excel. Given that the estimated number of participants was 3,000 ~ 4,000 annually, there was also a significant concern about potential human errors. While we certainly prioritized "ease of participation" for learners, I believe Coursebase surpassed other LMS options terms of "ease of creation and management" for administrators.

Q: How has training management changed since adopting Coursebase LMS?

Case InterviewMr. Nagano:
We were able to establish an LMS-complete flow where participants can proceed from new registration to certificate issuance, which was a challenge previously. This has significantly reduced our company's burden compared to manual processes. Furthermore, the ease of data management regarding participant completion has allowed us to smoothly determine the eligibility for product shipments within our company.

Ms. Mochizuki:
Learning content and participant information are now centrally managed within the system, with all related necessary information consolidated in one place. This allows for seamless checks whenever needed, which led to a reduction in the burden of detailed operational tasks and inquiry responses related to learning facilitation. After actually implementing it, we truly realized the significant impact of this benefit.

Q: Please tell us about the importance of managing with an LMS.

Mr. Nagano:
I believe LMS is an important tool for training management, because it can significantly reduce cumbersome manual efforts. This time, to handle new registrations for thousands of participants without existing registration data, manage their learning progress, and issue certificates, it's conceivable that a lot of effort and time would have been required if done manually. Therefore, I feel that the cost-effectiveness of automation through the LMS was extremely high.

Ms. Mochizuki:
I felt that the ability to visualize exam progress, allowing for individual follow-ups on learning status, and the flexibility for users to proceed with learning according to their proficiency levels, were very important. For this course, we set up exam questions for each field, and configured it so that users could proceed to the next section only after answering all questions correctly. Even if an incorrect answer is chosen, users can deepen their understanding by repeatedly watching videos before retrying, leading to high learning effectiveness.

For seminars and study sessions, there are limits to the number of times they can be held and the number of participants, meaning not everyone who wishes to attend might be able to. However, with an LMS, such constraints are eliminated, allowing for the provision of ample learning opportunities.

Q: Aside from features, are there any aspects where Coursebase LMS stands out?

Mr. Nagano:
We found their course creation support to be exceptionally outstanding. Unlike other LMS that charge extra, Coursebase included this support in their basic fee, allowing us to create our first course smoothly and with confidence. Their support team was always easy to reach and provided prompt responses.

Ms. Mochizuki:
Their comprehensive support system is highly impressive. Despite our team lacking prior LMS launch experience, Coursebase provided a demo environment early on, which helped us visualize the operation. This clear understanding of what was possible (and not) from the start was crucial for our launch.

When operational rules changed, they meticulously listened to our needs for registration screen modifications and implemented them promptly, which was incredibly helpful. This flexibility in addressing individual needs is a unique strength.

Q: Would you recommend Coursebase LMS to other companies? Please tell us why.

Case Interview

Mr. Nagano:
Yes. This is because of its flexibility in terms of pricing and support, allowing access to comprehensive support at a low cost. We believe it can significantly reduce the burden on operations.

Ms. Mochizuki:
Yes. It's highly recommend for first-time LMS users without prior LMS adoption or operational experience.

Our team started this LMS launch with no prior experience, so there were many unknowns as we proceeded. However, beyond just having all the necessary features, the support system is exceptionally comprehensive. We believe that it was thanks to the close collaboration between our company and Coursebase that we were able to successfully launch. Even after the launch, we regularly consult Coursebase about LMS usage and convey our requests, and they have responded exactly as expected. We are also grateful to their representatives for their kind support in assisting new members who joined the operation.
